Roberto Verino

It took a sensitive and vigorous spirit like Roberto Verino 's to restore glory to local wine after many centuries of triumphs and declines, border wars and unfair trade.
Verino, the visible head of the Mariño family, was the one who, in the early nineties, set the Gargalo project in motion, revealing to most people the existence of another designation of origin in Galicia, Monterrei. It was then that Verín and its surrounding region asserted their winemaking tradition.
Gargalo's project is taking shape and fans are beginning to have easy access to the modern version of Monterrei wines.
Verino, in love with his land, is the one who, in his creative search, and after demonstrating everything in fashion, perfumes or interior design, accepts the challenge of making a high-altitude wine.
When he travels the world, the designer makes an effort to introduce his guests, along with the new fashion collections, to the aromas and flavors of the land: potatoes, octopus, chestnuts and… wine, his own wine, which express respect for the most traditional, combined with innovation and the pursuit of excellence.
“Understanding wine as a pleasure to share around a table and good conversation with friends . From these unique moments, the Gargalo winery was born .”
