About this wine

Gargalo Mencía & Arauxa 2024 is an authentic interpretation of the red wine character of the Monterrei Valley. Made from Mencía and Arauxa grapes from our own vineyards and old vines planted on clay and slate soils, it combines fruit, structure, and terroir.

After controlled fermentation at 22°C and spontaneous malolactic fermentation , the wine spends 7 months in tanks , refining its texture and enhancing its aromatic profile. The result is a vibrant, balanced, and highly expressive red wine, where red and black fruit coexist with a broad and persistent palate.

A gastronomic wine, versatile and faithful to the style of the DO Monterrei.

Our story

Gargalo was born in the heart of the Monterrei Valley, Galicia, driven by the vision of Roberto Verino. In the early nineties, Verino decided to restore the prominence of the wine of his land, recovering old vineyards and respecting the unique character of the Monterrei designation of origin.

Since then, the winery has combined tradition and modernity: hand-harvesting, absolute respect for the environment, and a clear commitment to quality. Each bottle reflects this dedication to nature, the care of the vineyard, and the passion for creating wines that convey identity, elegance, and authenticity.
